In collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, the H-E-B pharmacy will also include a community-based pharmacy residency program, which provides post-graduate advanced training taught by experienced, licensed pharmacists. Since 2008, the H-E-B/University of Texas College of Pharmacy Community Pharmacy Residency Program has trained dozens of student residents in both Austin and San Antonio, carrying out their mission to sharpen proficiencies in patient care, leadership skills, and clinical knowledge to best serve the community.
“H-E-B has been an innovator in community pharmacy practice in Texas. The UT College of Pharmacy has a long history of collaboration with H-E-B, including training the next generation of pharmacists through internships, experiential rotations, and post-graduate residencies,” says the Dean of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, Samuel M. Poloyac, PharmD, PhD. “The opening of the new pharmacy on the UT Austin campus is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our partnership. We are excited to work together on this new endeavor.”
In celebration of the location’s grand opening, H-E-B donated $5,000 in gift cards to be distributed to lower-income patients at UT Health Austin.
