Cancer Fertility Preservation

Health Transformation Building, 9th Floor 1601 Trinity Street, Bldg. A, Austin, TX 78712

About This Service

UT Health Austin’s Cancer Fertility Preservation service is the first comprehensive fertility preservation service in Central Texas available to meet patients (13 years and older) with a cancer diagnosis who are undergoing a variety of treatment plans, including radiation, chemotherapy, and bone marrow transplant. We look at each case individually and encourage discussing any personal treatment preferences you might have, including religious beliefs, cultural beliefs, emotional effects, prognosis, odds of success with future fertility, and genetic risks, to best educate you on a variety of fertility preservation services available to you and your family. We continue to evaluate and monitor fertility post-treatment, and we are available to discuss options with you even if you did not receive an evaluation from us pre-treatment.

Treatment Approach

At UT Health Austin, we take a multidisciplinary approach to your care. This means you will benefit from the expertise of multiple specialists across a variety of disciplines caring for you in one place to avoid having to schedule multiple appointments with providers at locations all over the city. The Cancer Fertility Preservation care team includes cancer fertility preservation specialists, reproductive endocrinologists, urologists, advanced practice registered nurses, social workers, and more who work together to help you preserve the things in your life that matter most to you. We also work alongside other members of the CaLM Care Team.

We collaborate with our colleagues at The University of Texas at Austin and the Dell Medical School to stay informed of the latest research and treatment techniques, and we partner with existing providers in the Austin area to ensure we can successfully connect you with fertility services that meet your needs. We work to educate you on how your fertility can be affected by cancer and cancer treatments; help you think about planning your family before, during, and after treatment; inform you of fertility preservation options available to you, and navigate the fertility preservation process with you so that you have support every step of the way. Advanced imaging and lab testing are also available on-site if needed.
