Neil Venardos, MD

Clinical Biography

Neil Venardos, MD is a pediatric cardiac surgeon in the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. He specializes in performing pediatric cardiothoracic and congenital heart surgery.

Dr. Venardos earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and received a medical degree at Texas Tech Health Science Center. He completed an internship, a residency in general Surgery, a research fellowship, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Colorado-Aurora, and completed training in congenital cardiac surgery at the Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora.

Dr. Venardos has published multiple articles and has given presentations on the topic of cardiothoracic surgery and congenital heart disease. He is involved with several surgical societies, and his research is focused on outcomes in congenital cardiac surgery and the pathobiology of heart valve disease. His clinical interests include neonatal cardiac surgery, surgical therapy for heart failure including heart transplantation, single ventricle palliation, and adult congenital heart disease.
