Clinical Biography

Maj Henriksson, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in UT Health Austin’s Trauma Recovery and Research Center. She specializes in providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed assessment and psychotherapy services to adults. Additionally, Maj Henriksson is an assistant professor of practice in The University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work.

Maj Henriksson earned her bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in Spanish from Texas State University and her master’s degree in social work from The University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work. She completed an internship in social work at both AIDS Services of Austin and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.

Maj Henriksson has experience as both a clinician and supervisor providing social work and counseling services in various settings, including community agencies, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and emergency rooms. Her clinical interests include trauma treatment, emotional wellness, medical social work, and crisis intervention. She has received training in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and motivational interviewing (MI).
