Clinical Biography
Maj Henriksson, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in UT Health Austin’s Dermatology Clinic, UT Health Austin’s Endocrinology Clinic, UT Health Austin’s Infectious Disease Clinic, UT Health Austin’s Primary Care Clinic, and UT Health Austin’s Rheumatology Clinic. She is also a part of UT Health Austin’s Integrated Behavioral Health team. She provides assessment and brief psychotherapy services to adult patients that are experiencing difficulty managing and coping with everyday stress, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health challenges. Additionally, Maj Henriksson is as an assistant professor of practice in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin.
Maj Henriksson earned her master’s in social work from The University of Texas at Austin and her bachelor’s in social work, with a minor in Spanish, from Texas State University, where she completed a study abroad program at Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Chile. She completed an internship in social work at AIDS Services of Austin and a second internship in social work at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. She has basic training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and earned an International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) Certification for specialized training in individual crisis intervention and peer support group crisis intervention.
Maj Henriksson’s clinical interest involves using a variety of different therapeutic methods, including crisis intervention theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy.
