Clinical Biography
Maj Henriksson, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in UT Health Austin’s Infectious Disease Clinic, Primary Care Clinic, and Rheumatology Clinic. She is also a part of UT Health Austin’s Integrated Behavioral Health care team. She provides assessment and brief psychotherapy services to adult patients that are experiencing difficulty managing and coping with everyday stress, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health challenges. Additionally, Maj Henriksson is as an assistant professor of practice in The University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
Maj Henriksson earned her bachelor’s degree n social work with a minor in Spanish, from Texas State University, where she completed a study abroad program at Universidad Católica de Valparaiso, Chile. She earned her master’s degree in social work from The University of Texas at Austin. She completed an internship in social work at AIDS Services of Austin and a second internship in social work at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. She has basic training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and earned an International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) Certification for specialized training in individual crisis intervention and peer support group crisis intervention.
Maj Henriksson’s clinical interests include using a variety of different therapeutic methods, including crisis intervention theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy.
