Clinical Biography
Ethan Meltzer, MD, is a board-certified neurologist in UT Health Austin’s Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Center. He specializes in assisting patients with multiple sclerosis and other related neuroimmunologic diseases, including neuromyelitis optica, transverse myelitis, and autoimmune encephalitis. Additionally, Dr. Meltzer is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology at The University of Texas at Austin and serves as the Associate Program Director of the Neurology Residency Program for the Dell Medical School.
Dr. Meltzer earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed both an internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology through Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology at the Dell Medical School.
Dr. Meltzer’s research focuses on studying the eye to seek a better understanding of the development and progression of multiple sclerosis and similar diseases as well as new mechanisms of disease treatment. He is a renowned educator with multiple teaching awards and an upcoming book on teaching the clinical method in neurology.
