Biography and Education
Clinical Biography
Emily Brooke, LCSW (she/hers/ella), is the licensed clinical social worker for Digestive Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension and UT Health Austin. She is also a part of UT Health Austin’s Health Social Work care team. She specializes in patient-centered care surrounding transitions and coping with greater life challenges. Additionally, Emily Brooke is an assistant professor in The University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
Emily Brooke earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Southern California, during which she studied abroad at the University of Cape Town. She also earned her master’s degree in social work at The University of Texas at Austin.
Emily Brooke is dedicated to helping patients recognize their strengths and discover ways they are already coping, succeeding, and navigating the complexities of their lives. She uses a range of therapeutic approaches to provide care thoughtfully tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Previously, she worked with transition-aged youth in foster care and in educational settings. She has also mentored numerous social work interns during their field practicums, finding great fulfillment in supervising and fostering the development of future social workers. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Rome Foundation GastroPsych community.
