Biography and Education
David Tang, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist in Digestive Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pancreas and biliary conditions and disease. Additionally, Dr. Tang is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Tang earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, a fellowship in gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine, and a second fellowship in advanced interventional endoscopy at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Tang’s research interests include health informatics and advanced imaging techniques, which complements his background in engineering and computer science. He also has worked on implementing innovative healthcare delivery models, especially for the vulnerable population, with a focus on telemedicine. He is very interested in teaching, especially around concepts of high-value care. He has published research articles on endoscopic training.
