Clinical Biography
Vijay Gorrepati, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist in UT Health Austin’s Bipolar Disorder Center. He specializes in the treatment of bipolar disorder, using an evidence-based model that integrates pharmacological therapy with psychotherapy, peer support, and expert consultation. Additionally, Dr. Gorrepati is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Gorrepati earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center. He completed a residency in psychiatry at the University of Chicago Medicine.
Dr. Gorrepati’s clinical interests include mentalization-based interventions and community mental health. His research focuses on novel pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for bipolar disorder as well as exploring risk factors, early detection, and the neurocognitive changes that occur over time. He is a member of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders.
