Biography and Education

Clinical Biography

Valerie Rosen, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and the Medical Director of UT Health Austin’s Trauma Recovery and Research Center. She specializes in trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychotherapy, and medication management. Additionally, Dr. Rosen is an associate professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and a courtesy associate professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Health Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Rosen earned both her bachelor’s in business administration and bachelor’s in psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed a residency in psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Rosen previously served as a clinical assistant professor at Yale University, where she also served as an attending psychiatrist for Yale University Health Services. She currently serves as a regional trainer in cognitive processing therapy and is the founder and Medical Director of Ascension Seton’s Restore Intensive Outpatient Program for post-traumatic stress disorder. She is actively engaged in enhancing psychiatric treatment and access to care for veterans, active duty military, police, and first responders. She is also a member of the American College of Psychiatrists, the Austin Psychiatry Society, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and Texas Medical Association.
