Sowmya Boddhula, MD

Clinical Biography

Sowmya Boddhula, MD, is a board-certified endocrinologist and lifestyle medicine specialist in UT Health Austin’s Endocrinology Clinic. She specializes in the management of a variety of endocrine disorders, with a special focus on diabetes, obesity-related conditions, calcium disorders, and adrenal disorders. Additionally, Dr. Boddhula is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Endocrinology at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Boddhula earned her medical degree from Sri Venkata Sai Medical College. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Mary Imogene Bassett Medical Center and a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Dr. Boddhula’s research focuses on quality improvement, and she recently published a case series about patients with diabetic ketoacidosis and COVID-19. She is dedicated to educating the next generation of physicians. Through her clinical practice and research, she has contributed to improving community health by addressing a wide range of chronic conditions. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Academy of Physicians in Clinical Research.
