Biography and Education

Clinical Biography

Nimmy Thomas, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist in UT Health Austin’s Primary Care Clinic. She specializes in preventive care, patient education, and supporting overall health and wellness. Additionally, Dr. Thomas is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and her master’s degree in public health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin where she also earned a distinction in care transformation, focusing on improving patient care and healthcare delivery.

Dr. Thomas’ research interests include improving care for chronic diseases, liver health, cancer screening, and health equity. She has multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work at national conferences. She has led projects to enhance care for veterans, including initiatives on steatotic liver disease diagnosis and HPV vaccination. She is also actively involved in medical education, residency recruitment, and community health, reflecting her commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care.
