Clinical Biography
Karl Chiang, PhD, is a board-certified psychologist in both UT Health Austin’s Bipolar Disorder Center and UT Health Austin’s Trauma Recovery and Research Center. He specializes in working collaboratively with patients to cope with a life-changing illness, examining stress that could impact the quality of life, and addressing health disparities.
Dr. Chiang earned both his master’s and doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Denver. He completed a residency in health psychology at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center, a fellowship in psychosocial oncology at Washington University School of Medicine, and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Brown University.
Dr. Chiang has published numerous articles in addition to conducting research and teaching. He is a member of the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers and the Society for Health Psychology.
