Joseph DuBose, MD, FACS

Clinical Biography

Joseph “Joe” DuBose, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon in the Institute for Cardiovascular Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin. He specializes in the management of traumatic injury, vascular injury, and vascular disease. Additionally, Dr. DuBose is a professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care.

Dr. DuBose earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Virginia Military Institute and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Virginia, a fellowship in trauma surgery and surgical critical care at the University of Southern California, and a fellowship in vascular surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Dr. DuBose served 20 years in the United States Air Force as a trauma and vascular surgeon. During his time in service, he complete seven deployments in support of Joint Special Operations Command, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is committed to improving healthcare delivery and access through research and educating the next generation of healthcare providers and thought leaders. He has authored 340 peer-reviewed publications and numerous textbook chapters. He is a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society for Vascular Surgery.
