Clinical Biography
John Wickman, MD, MBA, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon in UT Health Austin’s Shoulder and Elbow Clinic within the Musculoskeletal Institute. He specializes in shoulder and elbow injuries and conditions. Additionally, Dr. Wickman is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Wickman earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his master’s degree from Harvard Business School. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University Health System and a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Wickman’s clinical interests include rotator cuff disease, shoulder replacements, complex and revision shoulder replacements, shoulder and elbow fractures, and shoulder stabilization. He is an active contributor to the medical community through research and publications. His research focuses on improving outcomes and increasing patient value for patients suffering from rotator cuff disease and shoulder arthritis. He emphasizes the importance of patient education, ensuring that individuals understand their conditions and treatment options thoroughly.
