Clinical Biography
Gurpreet Singh, MD, Msc, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in UT Health Austin’s Hip and Knee Clinic within the Musculoskeletal Institute. He specializes in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacements and treats a variety of orthopedic conditions affecting the hip and knee, including but not limited to osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis, inflammatory arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis. Additionally, Dr. Singh is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Singh earned his bachelor’s degree in computation biochemistry with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin, his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and his master’s degree in surgery from Western University in Ontario, Canada. He completed both an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a fellowship in adult reconstructive hip and knee surgery at Western University in Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Singh’s clinical interests include same-day joint replacement surgery, minimally invasive surgery, anterior approach hip replacement, and complex and revision hip and knee replacements. He adopts a holistic approach to treating arthritis and joint conditions, focusing on enhancing patients’ quality of life by enabling them to return to the activities they cherish. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and exercising before and after surgery to ensure optimal surgical outcomes, improve overall health, and help patients regain mobility as quickly as possible. Working in an academic institution allows him to stay at the forefront of evidence-based treatments, ensuring his patients receive the highest standard of care. He has published and presented research on hip and knee replacement surgery and has served on mission trips, performing hip and knee replacement surgeries with Faith in Practice in Antigua, Guatemala. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
