Biography and Education

Clinical Biography

Elizabeth Rosenthal, MD is a pulmonologist in UT Health Austin’s Pulmonology Clinic. She specializes in diagnosing and treating breathing problems caused by neuromuscular disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, myopathy, myasthenia gravis, critical illness myopathy, and cares for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Dr. Rosenthal earned dual bachelor’s degrees in theological studies from Concordia University Irvine and her medical degree from The University of Texas Long School of Medicine in San Antonio. She completed both an internship and residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital through the Washington University School of Medicine. She is completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Rosenthal is passionate about improving care for patients with complex respiratory conditions. Her research focuses on addressing the breathing needs of individuals with neuromuscular diseases. She has presented her work at national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to her clinical and research efforts, she is dedicated to medical education and quality improvement, ensuring her patients receive compassionate, evidence-based care.
