Clinical Biography

Deepak Agrawal, MD is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at UT Health Austin’s Gastroenterology clinic. Dr. Agrawal received his medical degree from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Bombay University, India. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Case Western University; his Gastroenterology fellowship at Brown University and a second fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy at Case Western University. Additionally, Dr. Agrawal received a Master’s of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health and an MBA in Health Care Leadership at the University of Texas at Dallas.He has clinical expertise treating patients with digestive health and liver concerns including: Cirrhosis, Constipation, Diverticulosis, Esophagitis, Gastritis and Duodenitis, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Intestinal Obstruction, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Pancreatic Cancer and Peptic Ulcer Disease. Dr. Agrawal perfoms colonoscopies, Endoscopic Retrograde Choliangiopancretography (ERCP), Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy.

Before accepting a position at UT Health Austin, Dr. Agrawal was the Director of Endoscopy at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He served on several committees at UT Southwestern including the Gastroenterology fellowship program. He is an international speaker, prolific researcher (59 studies) and sits on the review boards of several medical journals. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterology Association.

Additionally, Dr. Agrawal is an associate professor and the chief of gastroenterology and hepatology in the Department of Internal Medicine, Dell Medical School. Dr. Agrawal is also the co-director of the “Bridges to Better Care” program.
