Clinical Biography
Deaundra “Deon” Davis is a peer support specialist in UT Health Austin’s Amplify Center. She specializes in leveraging her lived experience to build trusting, supportive relationships with young adults navigating mental health challenges.
Deon Davis earned her associate’s degree in general studies from Austin Community College, where she engaged in community advocacy, facilitated focus groups, moderated events for E3 Alliance, a nonprofit organization focused on improving educational outcomes for students in Central Texas, and led efforts to establish a student care center. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Texas State University.
Deon Davis is committed to community engagement and mental health advocacy. She has served on the board of the Amplify Center and as a community food ambassador for the City of Austin, where she contributed to the creation of the city’s first food plan. Her latest project is a podcast that provides a platform for discussions on society, philosophy, and history. She is dedicated to advocating for meaningful change and making a difference in the lives of those she serves. She actively listens and validates patients’ experiences, promotes self-empowerment through self-advocacy, and helps individuals set personal goals for recovery. She works alongside the clinical team to assess patients’ strengths, needs, and goals, guiding them through problem-solving by identifying challenges, developing action plans, and exploring steps toward meaningful change. She fosters positive self-talk, conflict resolution skills, and personal growth to support patients in their recovery journey.
