Clinical Biography

Alyssa is a clinical social worker specializing in counseling individuals with dementia and their caregivers. As manager of the Cognitive Impairment Care Team at UT Health Austin, she supports the team’s patient-centered and evidence-based approach to delivering dementia treatment and care. As part of her role, Alyssa is developing the practice’s counseling and education program for individuals living with a cognitive disorder.

Alyssa’s professional career has focused on Alzheimer’s intervention, program development, research, and disease education. She is an advocate for early diagnosis and evidence-based program interventions in communities and hospital systems. Alyssa contributed to Dementia Friendly America® — an initiative to educate health care systems and communities on ways to become dementia friendly by developing training videos and provider practice tools. She also presents at the national, state, and local levels on topics related to dementia.
