Clinical Biography

Alyssa is a clinical social worker specializing in counseling individuals with dementia and their caregivers. In her role at UT Health Austin, she supports the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences Comprehensive Memory Center patient-centered and evidence-based approach to delivering dementia treatment and care. Additionally, Alyssa serves as Assistant Professor of Practice at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at UT-Austin

Alyssa’s professional career has focused on Alzheimer’s intervention, program development, research, and disease education. She is an advocate for early diagnosis and evidence-based program interventions in communities and hospital systems. Alyssa contributed to Dementia Friendly America® — an initiative to educate health care systems and communities on ways to become dementia friendly by developing training videos and provider practice tools. She also presents at the national, state, and local levels on topics related to dementia.
