Biography and Education

Clinical Biography

William Matsui, MD is a board-certified medical oncologist in UT Health Austin’s Livestrong Cancer Institutes. He is also a part of UT Health Austin’s CaLM Care Team. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancers that involve the blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes (lymphoma). Additionally, Dr. Matsui is a professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Oncology and a courtesy professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Internal Medicine. He also serves as the Deputy Director and the Director of Hematological Malignancies Program for the Dell Medial School Livestrong Cancer Institutes.

Dr. Matsui earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington as well as a fellowship in medical oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Matsui is also a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association of Cancer Research, the International Society for Stem Cell Research, the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and the American Society of Hematology.
