About This Clinic
UT Health Austin’s Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute diagnoses, treats, and manages a wide range of eye conditions, from cataracts and diabetic retinopathy screenings to some of the most specialized ophthalmic care, in patients (13 years and older). We use the latest diagnostic imaging and treatment modalities to fully care for your eyes.
Treatment Approach
At UT Health Austin, we take a multidisciplinary approach to your care. This means you will benefit from the expertise of multiple specialists across a variety of disciplines caring for you in one place to avoid having to schedule multiple appointments with providers at locations all over the city. The Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute care team includes fellowship-trained ophthalmologists, ophthalmic technicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and more who work together to help you get back to the things in your life that matter most to you.
We collaborate with our colleagues at the Dell Medical School and The University of Texas at Austin to utilize the latest research, diagnostic, and treatment techniques, allowing us to provide you with an unparalleled quality of care. Imaging and lab testing are also available on-site if needed.

Self-Scheduling
Self-scheduling is now available only for follow-up appointments for established patients. An established patient is an individual who has been seen previously by a Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute provider and has established a MyUTHA Portal account. Self-scheduling may be completed as early as 72 hours prior to the appointment date and time you wish to select, provided there is availability. To self-schedule your follow-up appointment with the Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute, please select an available date and time under the "Ophthalmology" specialty through your portal's Scheduling Calendar, which can be accessed here. New Patients
New patients should call the UT Health Austin Access Center at 1-833-UT-CARES (1-833-882-2737) to register and schedule an initial appointment or, you may REQUEST an appointment here. Please do not attempt to schedule your first appointment through self-scheduling as we may need additional information from you prior to your appointment date and time.

Our Facility
UT Health Austin is housed in the Health Transformation Building (HTB). The HTB is located in downtown Austin, TX on The University of Texas at Austin campus and neighbors the Dell Medical School research and learning buildings as well as the Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas.
This facility is outfitted with the latest state-of-the-art technology and organized to support an unmatched level of multidisciplinary care. Patients have access to all of the resources and amenities UT Health Austin has to offer, including attached garage parking, comfortable waiting areas, an on-site cafe, a full-service H-E-B pharmacy, advanced imaging and lab testing, and an Ambulatory Surgery Center for same-day surgical care.
