Clinical Biography
Steve Steffensen, MD, is a board-certified neurologist in UT Health Austin’s Comprehensive Memory Center within the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences. He specializes in caring for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and memory loss. Additionally, Dr. Steffensen is an associate professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology and an associate professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Population Health.
Dr. Steffensen earned his medical degree from The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and completed a residency in neurology at the National Naval Medical Center.
Dr. Steffensen has served as Chief of Innovation for the Military Health System as well as the personal adviser to The Surgeon General of the U.S. Army. He is also a founding board member of the Johns Hopkins University Military and Veterans Health Institute, where he represented Johns Hopkins on the Obama Administration “Joining Forces” initiative. During his military career, Dr. Steffensen gained a reputation for innovation in community and global health domains as well as being a passionate advocate for the needs of the combat medic.
