Vivian Aguilar, MD is a physician at the Women’s Health Institute at UT Health Austin. She specializes in uncontrolled urination, accidental bowel leakage (incontinence); weakening of muscles and tissue in the pelvis (pelvic organ prolapse); frequent urinary tract infections (recurrent UTIs); and injuries during childbirth (vesicovaginal and rectovaginal fistulas).
Dr. Aguilar says it was having a female pediatrician that inspired her to become a doctor as a young girl. Her decision to specialize in women’s health and wellness came after being educated at a women-only college. She believes that treating women suffering from pelvic floor issues can improve their lives. Dr. Aguilar works hard to communicate with her patients about their treatment options and strives to treat the whole person, not just the disease.
Dr. Aguilar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School. Before joining Dell Med, she was an Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University and Drexel College of Medicine, and an Assistant Clinical Professor at New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Aguilar believes that educating the next generation of compassionate, value-based health care providers is the key to improving women’s health everywhere.
