Clinical Biography

Shannon O’Neill is a family nurse practitioner and works as an associate provider in the Comprehensive Pain Management Unit at UT Health Austin. In her role on the care team, Shannon sees new patient consults and follow up appointments.

Shannon moved to Austin in 1998 to attend college. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2002. She then returned to The University of Texas at Austin to focus on nursing where she completed a Master of Science in Nursing in 2006 followed by completion of her Post-Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2010.

As a family nurse practitioner, she has worked in the settings of both pain management and women’s health. She has previously worked in the clinic setting in OB/GYN and infertility and spent 6 years working at an Austin based private practice that focused on chronic pain management treatments.

Shannon works alongside Dr. Vetter and Dr. Khan in the Comprehensive Pain Management Unit. She enjoys being part of a pain management group that focuses on a multidisciplinary and multimodal approach to the treatment of chronic conditions.

Shannon is a member of the following organizations: Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Austin Advanced Practice Nurses Association.
