Biography and Education

Clinical Biography

Lauren Thaxton, MD, MBA, MSBS, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist in UT Health Austin’s Women’s Health Institute. Additionally, Dr. Thaxton is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Women’s Health.

Dr. Thaxton earned her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and her master’s in health organization management from Texas Tech University. She completed both a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in complex family planning at the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Dr. Thaxton has published several articles and book chapters and is an active member of the following organizations: The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Society for Family Planning, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and Physicians for Reproductive Health. She is also a co-investigator with the Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP). Her research focuses on creating novel, patient-centered interventions for reproductive health.
