Lauren Thaxton, MD, MBA, MSBS

Clinical Biography

Lauren Thaxton, MD, MBA, MSBS, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and a part of both UT Health Austin’s Complex Contraception care team and UT Health Austin’s Pregnancy Loss Management care team. Additionally, Dr. Thaxton is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Women’s Health.

Dr. Thaxton earned her master’s in health organization management from Texas Tech University and her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed both a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in complex family planning at the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Dr. Thaxton has published several articles and book chapters is a co-investigator with the Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP). Her research focuses on creating novel, patient-centered interventions for reproductive health. She is also an active member of The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, Physicians for Reproductive Health, and the Society for Family Planning.
