Clinical Biography
Karl Chiang, PhD is a psychologist caring for patients in the Bipolar Disorders Center at UT Health Austin’s Mulva Clinic for the neurosciences. He completed his PhD in Psychology at the University of Denver, completed his residency at West Virginia University Medical School, and received post-doctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine and Brown Alpert Medical School.
Dr. Chiang brings extensive clinical experience to UT Health Austin and is a proponent of the integrative care model practiced here. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are a few of the treatment options utilized in his practice. His specialty interests include working collaboratively with patients to cope with life changing illness, examining stress that could impact quality of life and addressing health disparities. Additionally, he has published numerous articles in addition to research and teaching. His professional affiliations include the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers and the Society for Health Psychology.
