Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic

Seton Antenatal Testing Unit 1301 W. 38th Street, Suite 315, Austin, TX 78705 (See additional locations below)

About This Clinic

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic is a clinical partnership between UT Health Austin and Ascension Seton, which includes Dell Seton Medical Center, Seton Williamson Hospital, and Seton Northwest Hospital.

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic diagnoses, treats, and manages the care of expecting mothers with complex and high-risk pregnancies. Pregnancies can become high-risk when mothers have certain medical conditions, experience preterm labor, or placental abnormalities occur. In some situations, it may be the baby who is at risk, such as babies in utero suspected to have birth anomalies. The Maternal-Fetal Medicine care team closely monitors you and your baby’s health throughout your pregnancy to detect any potential problems as quickly as possible so that treatment can start immediately. We also provide consultations and co-management options so that you can continue your routine prenatal care with your chosen obstetrician whenever possible. Our team is here to provide ongoing supportive care to ensure a safe and healthy delivery.

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine care team is comprised of nationally recognized and highly specialized physicians across different disciplines. Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are highly specialized obstetrician-gynecologists who have completed an additional three years of training to become experts in high-risk pregnancies. We provide expertise in prenatal care and diagnosis, advanced obstetrical ultrasound, fetal anomalies or genetic disorders, multifetal gestation (e.g., twins, triplets), diabetes management, genetic counseling, preterm labor, preeclampsia, and the management of pre-existing maternal conditions, including cardiac (i.e., heart) disease, hypertension, autoimmune disorders, mental health disorders, and blood disorders to give patients and their families the best quality of life.

Treatment Approach

Patients are cared for by a dedicated multidisciplinary care team, meaning you and your child will benefit from the expertise of multiple specialists across a variety of disciplines. Our fellowship-trained and board-certified physicians have extensive experience with complex and high-risk pregnancy and work alongside a team of experts, including maternal-fetal medicine specialists, genetic counselors, sonographers, advanced practice providers, dietitians, social workers, and more, providing unparalleled care for patients and their families every step of the way.
