Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease

Caring for the hearts of Central Texas and beyond

The Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease offers comprehensive surgical care for the treatment of pediatric heart diseases and defects with a focus on patient-centered outcomes. Caring for children of all ages, treatments are tailored to the needs of each individual child and their families or caregivers. Care is coordinated with referring physicians and other care team members to ensure patients receive the highest level of specialized care and a smooth transition into adult congenital cardiac care.

About the care team

Since graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 1980, Dr. Charles Fraser, Jr. has been part of some of the finest institutions in medicine (including the children’s heart program ranked number one in America by US News and World Report). Dr. Fraser joined UT Health Austin to establish a new, focused congenital heart surgery unit for babies, children and adults in partnership with the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Prior to joining UT Austin, Dr. Fraser and his team performed over 16,000 congenital cardiac repairs and related surgeries in children and adults. He, along with Carlos Mery, MD and Ziv Beckerman, MD and their team of experts, are creating a world-class cardiac and congenital heart disease program for infants, children and adults.

Our goal for patient-centered care

Dr. Fraser’s vision for the newly formed, Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease is to build on his experience to optimize the entire continuum of care of patients with congenital heart disease in a compassionate, calm, gentle environment that also nurtures and supports patient families. Our team is committed to assisting patients and families throughout the entire treatment process and into recovery to ensure the best possible surgical outcomes.
